7 Smoothie Recipes for Fall (And a Wellness Boost!)

When it comes to getting your nutrients in, smoothies are one of the best ways to do it. Don’t get us wrong, there is something so wonderful and necessary about a meal full of variety and texture. We are not advocates for drinking all of your meals! But drinking some of them can be a smart move when you’re busy, tired, or just don’t feel like preparing a meal. It can also make adding supplements to your diet easy. That’s why we’re going to cover a few of our favorite smoothie recipes for fall. But before we dive in, let’s talk about ways to prep the pantry.

Stock Up for Smoothie-Making Ease

Before we jump into the recipes, we want to share a few things we think you should stock up on. Some of these are great supplemental items to add into your smoothies. Others are staples that you’ll notice in many of the recipes. Either way, we think you should add them to your list!

  • Protein powder. This is a great staple to have on hand, because it will add thickness to your smoothies and a creamy flavor. Personally, we’d have to recommend our PlantYourDay vegan formula. With organic pumpkin and pea protein plus prebiotics and probiotics, it’s a festive addition to smoothie recipes for fall—and one to safeguard your health going into winter. It has 110 calories, 17 grams of protein, one gram of sugar, and two grams of fat per serving … we love a balanced smoothie base! It does have a chocolate flavor, so keep that in mind when planning out these recipes.
  • Milk. Whether you love cow’s milk, almond, oat, or another variety, this is something you’ll want to keep stocked for your smoothie journey. Water works, but a little bit of milk helps give smoothies that creamy texture.
  • Greek yogurt. This could also thicken up a good blend and provides a rich depth of flavor.
  • Chia seeds or flaxseeds. Or, both! These two seed varieties bring tons of benefits to your smoothie.
  • Honey and cinnamon. When you’ve got your smoothie all blended and prepared in your favorite fancy glass, you might want to garnish a little—why not?! Honey and cinnamon are perfect fall toppers.

Now that we’ve covered those staples, let’s jump into smoothie recipes for fall!

Apple Crisp Smoothie

With oat, apple, and cinnamon, this delicious recipe by Ashley Fehr is practically a pie in a cup! The difference is that it isn’t full of butter and sugar, so it makes a great meal replacement or breakfast addition. Start your morning off with a yummy reminder of fall.

  • ¼ cup low fat milk (or substitute of your choice)
  • ½ cup 0% vanilla Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup instant or quick oats
  • 1 apple cut into ½-1” chunks
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6-8 ice cubes

Fall Greens Smoothie

Mmmm, now this is right up our alley! Danette May’s green-tastic blend is possibly our favorite of these smoothie recipes for fall. Because it would be so well complemented by our PlantYourDay® protein powder if you aren’t all in on the green flavor.

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or substitute of your choice)
  • 1 cup baby kale or spinach
  • ½ cup frozen pears cubed
  • ½ cup frozen grapes
  • ½ small banana
  • (+ a serving of PlantYourDay)

Creamy Fig and Cinnamon Smoothie

Doesn’t the title of this one alone make your mouth water? We get it … some people aren’t fig fans! But if you are, this is sure to be your new morning staple. Personally, we are pulling our blender out while we type. Jennifer Rose Rossano, we think you’ve outdone yourself with this favorite of smoothie recipes for fall!

  • 1 ½ cup almond milk
  • 3-4 fresh figs
  • 1 ½ frozen bananas
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • (+ a serving of PlantYourDay)

Rossano also lists out a bunch of toppings, because she enjoys this blend with an almost parfait-like presentation on top. We love the inventiveness of that, especially if it’s a meal replacement. Grab a handful of mulberries, extra figs, a sprinkle of rolled oats, chia seed or granola, ¼ cup coconut yogurt, and a cinnamon stick, per her recommendation.

S’more Smoothie

So here is the cutest of these smoothie recipes for fall, because according to creator Angela McGowan, her young son came up with the idea! He’s a genius. Because this is delicious. We will say, this is definitely the dessert pick on this list—a little less healthy … but we all deserve a treat now and then! Plus, since our PlantYourDay protein powder is chocolate flavored, you could add it in for an extra wellness boost.

  • 1 whole graham cracker
  • 1 cup milk of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon heaping tablespoon marshmallow fluff
  • 1 cup ice
  • (+ a serving of PlantYourDay)

McGowan and her kiddo also garnish with chocolate chips, whipped cream, and a graham cracker. Yum!

Pumpkin Chai Smoothie

Ahhh, here’s a classic. Emilie Hebert’s take on the pumpkin chai smoothie is positively decadent. It’s like pumpkin pie in a cup with a little twist of chai flavor. We. Are. Obsessed.

  • 2 bananas, frozen
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or substitute of your choice)
  • ¾ cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground clove

Banana Cream Pie Smoothie

Southerners are known for their deep appreciation of a good banana cream pie. In fact, they make it all year long. But the rich flavor and warmth of this old-school tradition make it perfect for one of our smoothie recipes for fall. Ashley Manila’s approach leads the way …

  • 2 bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 1/3 cup low-fat vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or substitute of your choice)
  • 4 vanilla wafer cookies
  • 1 ½ tablespoons honey
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 heaping cup of ice

Pomegranate Strawberry Smoothie

If you are a lover of fruity flavors, this is the one of our smoothie recipes for fall you’ll enjoy. Plus, the strawberry might feel summery, but pomegranate is a definite member of fall. Heather Schisler has got the guide to fruity fall flavor.

½ cup pomegranate juice

2 teaspoons honey

¾ cup frozen, unsweetened strawberries

1/3 cup yogurt

4 ice cubes

The Solve for the Season

While smoothies are a delicious addition to your routine at any time of the year, we think fall lends itself well to them. They are an easy way to pack nutrients into something you can quickly consume. And enjoying them on the go is no problem, which is helpful with all of the festive events and happenings of this beautiful time of year.

Happy blending!
